| 0-1-3-2-9 George Prentice Dodson Plymale was
born in Wayne County, West Virginia on June 7th, 1868 and died August 11th, 1947. On
June 7th, 1893 he was united in marriage with Signey Florence Dixon. She was born
November 5th, 1870 and died December 28th, 1944. They are buried in Ridgelawn
Cemetery, Huntington, West Virginia. He was a farmer (350 acre
Pine Crown Farm) specializing in registered livestock. He was a Wayne County
Sheriffs Deputy during the term of Sam J. Crum; and proud to have collected every
penny of taxes due in his territory. He was a prime mover in the establishment of
Central Grade (now Buffalo) School and Ceredo District (now Buffalo) High School, as well
as development of good roads, rural mail delivery and good bridges. He was a
representative of the International Harvester Farm Machinery Company for many years which
vastly improved Wayne County farming. The first double crossed hybrid field corn in
West Virginia was grown on his farm by his son Donald, in 1925. His children, Leora,
Russell, and Donald were in the first Wayne County 4 H Club. They lived on their
farm on Buffalo Creek all their married lives. |
