Charles Albert Plymale was born Oct. 2, 1871 in Catlettsburg, Kentucky to
Hugh and Dulcena Adkins Plymale. His family moved to Barnes, Arkansas,
Franklin County in 1884. He lived in Barnes and married Eunice Etta Woods
on Sept. 30, 1893 at North Liberty near Barnes, Arkansas. They had seven
children, six sons and one daughter.
He worked as a schoolteacher and then went to work for the
U.S.Forest Service. He was a ranger at the Jessieville Ranger Station. In
1911 the family moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, Garland County. While in
Hot Springs from 1912 to 1928 he was promoted to supervisor of the
Ouachita National Forest. In 1928 he moved his family to Alexandria, La.
where he was transferred to purchase land and establish the Kisatchie
National Forest near Alexandria, La. He was supervisor of the Kisatchie
National Forest until his retirement on Jan.1, 1935.
After his retirement the family returned to Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He died of pneumonia on May 15, 1936 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. His wife
Eunice Etta died on Feb. 26, 1959. Both are buried in Greenwood Cemetery
in Hot
Springs, Arkansas.
